MikeRoweSoft vs Microsoft
Update on the Mikerowesoft vs Microsoft dispute Mike Rowe has settled with Microsoft. Mike Rowe will transfer ownership of MikeRoweSoft.com to Microsoft, who will in turn forward traffic from that domains to his domain at MikeRoweForums.com. Mr Rowe will receive, in addition, an X-box video game system, Microsoft Certification training, and have his expenses incurred paid for by Microsoft. He is also set to make some big bucks from his auction of 25 pages of correspondence with Microsoft's lawyers, now up for auction on eBay with a current bid of US $115,600.00 with over 4 days left to go. Original Article The big hooha that loomed after Microsoft threatened legal action against 17 year old Canadian Mike Rowe has died down amidst statements from Microsoft that they may have over-reacted in trying to protect their trademark. Mr Rowe, a web designer, had chosen his domain name perhaps with a hint of tongue-in-cheek, with it being phonetically similar to the software giant. Microsoft had initially offered USD 10 as compensation, and subsequently threatened legal action after Mr Rowe countered by arguing his domain name was worth at least USD 10,000 after his efforts at advertising his business. Still, the ruckus has probably been a godsend to Mr Rowe, with the hits on MikeRoweSoft.com escalating to in excess of 250,000 visitors. Search for Microsoft Search for MikeRoweSoft |
