How to lose weight effectively, and keep it lost.
Weight Loss,
Dieting and
Exercise
In this day and age, with our normal diet and sedentary lifestyle, most people probably do need to lose a bit of weight to decrease the risk of medical problems like diabetes and heart disease.
Weight loss is best achieved by by a combination of good diet control and exercise.
Dieting alone, or exercise alone without proper diet control will never achieve satisfactory results.
Join a gym. Seeing others working out can help motivate you to work out harder. Exercise your entire body for the best results. Engage in aerobic activities that will utilise all the major muscle groups. Aerobic exercise like running is an essential part, but for most part only works out the legs. Complement with resistance exercises, eg. weight lifting to ensure that muscle groups in the upper body are worked out equally.
Exercise has also been shown to release endorphins, opioid like chemicals to improve your mood, kill pain and get rid of that headache that has been bothering you. Knowing that that chocolate bar is going to mean an extra 5 km run sometimes can help put you off excessive snacking.
Different groups have advocated different diet concepts that will maximise weight loss. The Atkins diet, used by celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, advocates a high protein, high fat, no carbohydrate. Others advocate controlling your fat and protein intake, going instead for a high fibre and carbohydrate diet.
However, we advocate eating in moderation. Try eating less of everything, and you`ll probably see results soon enough.
If all that still doesn`t work, medical remedies are a last resort. Drugs like Xenical ( Orlistat ) can act to prevent fat absorption in your gut, while phentaramine acts as an appetite surpressant.
